We still love to run down the road and chase Monty...
6 Mares in foal for the Spring 2012... Lenas Playboy Too's first foal for us is growing and just beautiful... Thanks be unto the Lord It has been a hard summer to endure. Little to no rain and temperatures in the over 100's for a long time. There have also been fire outbrakes, but none really close to us.
We give thanks to God for the relief in temp and a little rain the last few days. Leanna and I are getting ready for a festival in Bryan, Tx. We will try to sell our wares there. We figure we will have 5 babies out of Lenas Playboy Too if the mares remain in foal that long. Drought and hot weather can cause to mares to abort. We will be moving the horses behind the barn to behind the house so they can find a little more to eat and drink out of the pond. We continue to pray for rain, and cooler temps. God is in control. CHANGE IS INEVITABLE...
Especially if we are interested in updating our Quarter Horse Mare/Foal opperation. Updating requires that we look hard at what we are doing and develope actions which will let us improve. That is exactly what we are busy about doing. You will notice we have made some major changes in the past six weeks. We have sold six horses and, in turn, have purchased several. The object of our focus is to raise a better performance/ranch work horse. We are constantly working towards better genetics and superior conformation and disposition. We are pleased with the changes we have made. We have had our first Lenas Playboy Too foal. She is a sorrel filly out of our mare, Chex Chex Haida. And we are very excited about our foal crop for 2012. Last week I made a visit to Bryan to help Leanna with her handmade soap making project. You can visit her website at www.bodybathtreats.weebly.com . She has developed several soaps you will find delightful, including one which has the scent of leather. Many visitors come to our shop and say, "Don't you just love to work where it smells so much like leather?" Well here is everybody's chance to have that scent on hand. We made soap, and ate sushi mainly for about five days. We had a wonderful time. Please get in touch with us about our horses, or the leather shop, or even Leanna's website. We would love to hear from you. Have a nice July 4th. D Bar Quarter Horses and S A lot of new things have happened since I posted last April. We took a trip to Shawnee, Ok. and we acquired two new horses. Circle Bar Frisky, is out of good ranch horse working and performing horse stock. Short Nitalena comes from a long line of cow horse and cutting stock. We believe they will both match well with our stud horse, Lenas Playboy Too.
We are so looking forward to next year's foal crop. This summer we will get a little "preview" because our red roan mare, Chex Chex Haida, will be having one of "Playboy's" foals around June. To make room for these new arivals we are offering several of our colts, mares and fillies for sale. Pay special close attention to the mare, Elans Smart Chick. She is a well trained cutting horse. Anyone can cut on her who is used to "cuttin." She is a beautiful bay of good size. She is not a small horse. We have a few fillies and mares who are for sale. Birdie Lena Seguin WHO gray and SF San Bar OLena a plalomino, both ride well. Miss Tivios Victory is 10 yrs. and has had 6 foals, the youngest of which will sell with her and she has been bred to Lenas Playboy Too for a 2012 foal. A few of the fillies have not been broken yet and are also for sale as well as a colt horse, Little Woody Badger, who is a sorrell gelding. Come by to see the horses. Some have been placed in the June Havard Horse Sale at Lufkin. Contact us by email or blog coment and we will be in touch with you. Horseshoeing Chinks, Ferrier Chinks, believe it or not, they are work chinks. They are beautiful, and such a rich color of mahogony. I am looking through past photos which might not be digitilized to put on this site. It may take a little time so keep checking back with us.
We will be including images of several saddles he has built, and multiple belts.Joe has done a lot of different types of leather products including; gun cases, bridles, breast collars, saddle bags and walets, and much more. If you have a project you would like to contact, please use the form provided on the contact page. Lenas Playboy Too is a happy horse. He has had a chance to breed four of our mares and he thinks he is in "Hog Heaven." His first colt out or one of our mares will be coming in June. Last year we bred Chex Chex Haida to him very late in the season.
We have a lot of horses which are for sale. Joe always says "Everyone is for sale for the right price." So I guess I better watch my step. But they are not for sale because we don't want them. We are pleased with the way our selection of horses has gathered together into a well rounded band of quarterhorses, who are capable of any type of use or performance you are looking for. The foals, young fillies, young colts, and older fillies, are out of very good sires we located before we found Lenas Playboy Too. Our mare's pedigrees contain some of the top producing money earniers in the Cow horse/Quarter horse business. Lenas Playboy Too is right there with the best of the own sons of Freckles Playboy and an own daughter of Doc O'Lena. He was recognised in 2010 by Quarter Horse News in a list they compiled of the top 250 Cutting Horse Sires as number 160 on the list. This he accomplished with a lifetime total foal crop of 84, and out of that 84 he had 17 performance horses at the time. His own winnings are $52,418.99 and his produce winnings are currently $155,431.00. We are very pleased to have him join us here in East Texas. We think the climate and pine trees are very agreeable to him. He is a very polite and good minded bay Stallion. And we are looking for an outstanding foal crop in 2012 out of him. We have also bred a couple of mares to outside studs. Please call us or contact us about coming by to see our horses. Tonight we will be at the First Baptist Church in Henderson attending an auction to raise funds for Full Armor Academy. Joe has donated a Bible cover and knife scabbards.
I have asked Joe to make me a Bible cover like the one which will be auctioned tonight. I think it is just beautiful, so rich and lustrous. The closing snap is very convenient, and I think it appropriate to be able to see the pages of His Word without a zipper hiding them from me. Hope to see you there. Today we are celebrating Hailey's 2nd birthday. Happy Birthday, Hailey!
We have two babies so far and another to come in June. A filly out of SR Instant Choice and Shortys Smoke and a filly out of Indian Prescription and Miss Tivios Victory. The baby in June will be out of Lenas Playboy Too and Chex Chex Haida, a daughter of Haidas Little Pep. This year we are breeding several of our mares to Lenas Playboy Too. Working on Bible covers today, chinks and new saddle in the works. |
